Nice time at Convento do Carmo.

Great staff, nice breakfast, good location.

The hotel is located in the historic district with plenty to see and do nearby. Wear good walking shoes as the roads are cobblestone, steep and one lane. I suggest a cab to get around if you want to explore further as several are on station and places like the Marina are less than $20R or $6US per ride. Google maps and Salvador roads are confusing.

Staff really kind and helpful, we arrived at 3AM due to a delayed plane and we could easily and quickly check in The location is great to visit Salvador historical center and the hotel is charming

What was the highlight of Pestana Convento do Carmo

Impressive construction and great location :)

It was a great location to visit old town Salvador attractions and attend a soccer game in the city stadium, from which we could return walking in 20 minutes, given that taking a taxi was almost impossible with such a crowd. The environment was great for pre and post soccer game in Copa America. The hotel construction is an attraction itself, dated back to the 1500's, and kept well maintained, super clean, and updated bathrooms, perfect combination of antique and modern. The staff very helpful with everything we needed.

Needs a good spring cleaning

The location and the building were wonderful, the history of this unusual hotel is what made us book.

The bar staff and waiters were non existent, service was very slow, the reception staff were good and tried to be informative. We stayed 3 nights and I did not receive any towels and kept requesting these, the breakfast was minimal and poor selection with no staff to assist, the place needs a good cleaning, it’s a wonderful building just in need of some serious TLC. X

Beautiful hotel close to the city center

This hotel is located very close to the historical centre. The rooms are spacious and the hotel is located in a beautiful historical convent. The staff is very friendly and helpful at any time of the day. They even tried to help us when our flight on the check-out day was cancelled. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel to all tourists visiting Salvador, but I suggest you go out to dine in one of the restaurants nearby. This hotel is probaby one of the finer but also more expensive hotels close to the city center.

However, there are some things that could be improved. The choice at breakfast is OK, but the products are not always fresh. The restaurant in the hotel is very expensive for this city's standards. Luckily, there are a few charming restaurants nearby! Also the air conditioning is not very effective at dehumidifying the room (but that is the price you pay for being in a building full of history) and the view from my room was blocked by vegetation.

Very disappointed for what I had to pay. Expected much better standards for a Pestana hotel.

The historical building, and location for seeing the old parts of Salvador. The swimming pool and garden area.

The breakfast was very poor for a 4 star hotel. The cleanliness of the rooms and public areas was very bad, including the lifts which were smelly and dirty. Poor quality towels, and smelly drains in the bathroom. The quality of the television was very bad for a 4 star hotel.

Has potential to be amazing but feels neglected. Needs TLC

The hotel is located close to the main iconic square. The staff are very friendly and happy to help. It is an old convent so an interesting building and the corridors have beautiful views at each end. It is quite safe and quiet.

The room was very dusty and damp. It also smelt very strongly when we walked in - perhaps fusty from being old or moth balls? The carpet was very worn and it definitely needs a lick of paint. We booked for three night and only stayed for one (although the staff kindly accomodated our request to leave early). The breakfast was basic and bare -fair to say the worst we had sadly. Hate to leave a bad review but there is work to be done to make this a good stay. We were disappointed that we had make new plans.
